KEITH ADAMS

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Keith Adams has close to 30 years of experience as an academic and athletic leader. Dr. Adams graduated from Bowie State University with a degree in History, received a Masters Degree in Teaching from Grand Canyon University, as well as an Educational Leadership Certification from Hood College. In addition, Dr. Adams is also a Certified Master Athletic Administrator through the NIAAA. In 2018 Dr. Adams completed his Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Development from Grand Canyon University. His dissertation was entitled, “Finding the Balance between Academic and Sport Motivation: A Study of NCAA Division I Student-Athletes.” The research results indicated a statistically significant relationship between academic and sport motivation.

In 2009, Dr. Adams founded the Coach Keith Adams: Student Athletes Valuing Education Project (CKA SAVE Project), a nonprofit organization designed to assist student-athletes and the people who work with them through educational and professional development. The CKA SAVE Project offers several organizational services including academic and athletic consulting, monitoring, skills assessments, as well as conducting school and community workshops on topics relating to the student-athlete experience.

As an academic leader, Dr. Adams has taught on both the secondary and post-secondary levels. In addition, Dr. Adams has served in several school-based leadership positions including Department Chair and Athletic Director. Dr. Adams also taught a graduate level course in Sports Marketing. Dr. Adams is a widely respected expert on issues regarding student-athlete motivation. Dr. Adams serves as a content expert for doctoral students who are researching issues dealing with student-athlete motivation.

As an athletic leader, Dr. Adams has served as both a High School and College Basketball Coach. Dr. Adams’ teams have won numerous championships on both the high school and college levels. Dr. Adams proudly boasts a 90% college graduation rate of student-athletes he has worked directly with.

Dr. Adams continues to travel the country to speak at conferences and conventions on such diverse topics such as “Building Professional Learning Communities”, “Finding the Balance between Academic and Athletic Motivation”, “Let Go and Let Them: How Self-Directed Learning can assist student growth and development”, How to Stay CONNECTED through virtual and hybrid learning, among other topics.

Dr. Adams resides in Maryland with his wife Timasha and his son Keith Jr.
