BCC and Chapelgate win the 2017 CKA Holiday Invitational Tournament

CCOLUMBIA, MD — The BCC Lady Barons won their 1st CKA Holiday Invitational Tournament Championship with a win over the Kennedy Lady Cavaliers 67-31. Caitlyn Clendenin of BCC was named Tournament MVP. In addition, Charlotte Lowndes of BCC, Asia Lewis of Kennedy, Jordan Sales of Northwood High School and Joy Sanders of Cristo Rey were also named to the All-Tournament Team. In the consolation game Northwood defeated Cristo Rey 74-41.

The Chapelgate Yellow Jackets won their 2nd CKA Holiday Invitational Tournament Championship with a win over the The
Friends School 78-72. Cameron Heard was named Tournament MVP. In addition, Brandon Wise of Chapelgate, Terry Curry of Cristo Rey, Chase Kirkwood of Friends School and Charles Thompson of Long Reach were also named to the All-Tournament Team. In the consolation game Long Reach defeated Cristo Rey 76-60.

Paint Branch and Long Reach win the 2016 CKA Holiday Invitational Tournament

COLUMBIA, MD — The Paint Branch Lady Panthers won their 4th CKA Holiday Invitational Tournament Championship with a win over the BCC Lady Barons 59-46. Alayna McFadden was named Tournament MVP. In addition, Katerra Myers of Paint Branch, Caitlyn Clendenin of BCC, Satori Valentine of Mt. Hebron, and Charlotte Brown of Urbana were also named to the All-Tournament Team. In the consolation game Mt. Hebron defeated Urbana 49-46.

The Long Reach Lightning won their 2nd CKA Holiday Invitational Tournament Championship with a win over the BCC Barons 64-47. Tre’von Morgan was named Tournament MVP. In addition, Brandon Dix of Long Reach, Cameron Galic of BCC, Lonnie Lesane of Parkdale, and Tim Peterson of Cristo Rey were also named to the All-Tournament Team. In the consolation game Parkdale defeated Cristo Rey 73-45.

*CKA All Star Game*

The 3rd annual CKA SAVE Project Academic All Star Game to be played on *Monday March 14, 2016 at Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville, MD *with the Girls game beginning at 6pm followed by the Boys game at 8pm.

*CKA Academic Scholarship*

The CKA SAVE Project Scholarship Award is open to any senior student athlete who has matched the following criteria:

· Played or managed at least 2 years on high school athletics

· Maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5

· Completed at least one AP or IB class

· Have a minimum of 100 documented community service hours

*Educational Research*

I am in the proposal stage of my research on college student-athlete motivation. My goal is to conduct research during the winter of 2016 and complete my dissertation by the spring of 2016. I want to thank the various colleges and universities who have agreed to assist me in conducting research on student-athlete motivation.
