SAVE PROJECT |

Winter 2009
Greetings,
The CKA SAVE Project is a charitable organization dedicated to
assisting students and the people who work with them. With
support from people like you we have been helping students since
our inception in the spring of 2009.
Over the past year The CKA SAVE Project has done the following:
- Presented at both
the National Staff Development Council Summer
Conference in Boston and the 23rd Annual Maryland
Council for the Social Studies Conference on the
topic of Building Professional Learning Communities.
- Helped local
school groups raise over $1000 to assist the various
needs of their students.
- Developed a
student mentoring program that assisted students in
raising their Grade Point Averages more than 20%
over their averages from their previous school year.
- Hosted a
Basketball Coaching Clinic at Hood College
- Donated over $200
to Charities such as the V Foundation for Cancer
Research and the American Diabetes Association.
- Donated money to
the Herring Brothers Scholarship Fund.

Some Upcoming events for 2010:
- In January our
group will train teachers at the University of
Oklahoma Center for Effective Schools on Building
Professional Learning Communities.
- In June we will
take our Student Mentors to Kings Dominion
- In July we will
present at the National Staff Development Council
Summer Conference in Seattle.
- In August we will
begin our second year mentoring students

We are asking you to continue to support us with a financial
contribution that will go to supporting our great work in the
community. We are classified as public charity by the IRS thus
contributions to our organization are tax deductible under
